VvTP Study Tour 2024: Japan and South Korea

In August 2024 the Applied Physics study association (VvTP) of the Delft University of Technology will organise a three week long Study Tour for its members. The trip will take place from August 5th until August 25th. The group consists of 30 students, selected on motivation and resume. They are in their master or late bachelor phase, and are keen to have a look at companies where they might work after their graduation. They will visit companies in the Netherlands in the months leading up to the Study Tour.

About us

The VvTP Study Tour 2024 is organised by a committee of 8 motivated physics students. We are members of the Association for Applied Physics (VvTP), which is the study association for Applied Physics students at the Delft University of Technology. One of the goals of the Study Tour is to help students broaden their horizons, and bring them in touch with other cultures. Another is to help students with their future career choices.

The committee members this year are:

Seoul
Mt. Fuji

Programme

From the 5th to the 25th of August, we will be travelling through Japan and South-Korea. We will visit companies working with cutting-edge technology, universities researching the newest physics, as well as cultural and historical sites. Japan and South-Korea have a rich and fascinating culture, as well as beautiful nature, which everyone will have plenty of time to enjoy.

A message from our partner Cosine

Cosine is a worldwide leading company in the development of innovative measurement solutions for space, such as Silicon Pore Optics and remote sensing instrumentation with onboard analytics. We combine physics and technology to bring out-of-the-box solutions to our clients. We have been developing and delivering innovative measurement systems for space and industrial applications since 1998. Our company operates 1,000 m2 of cleanrooms and high-tech assembly facilities to build and test the systems we produce for customers at our headquarters in Sassenheim, The Netherlands. The cosine team consists of 50+ highly educated people who develop transparently in close collaboration with our customers. Our technologies span the field of applied physics, with extensive experience in spectroscopy, laser systems and radiation imaging systems. We use our knowledge in physics, electronics and software to solve problems in an innovative way.

Becoming a partner

Prior to and during the Study Tour, the students will visit several companies. These students are selected on motivation and resume. The group will consist of 30 highly motivated students, accompanied by professors from Delft University of Technology. These students are near the end of their study, and are orienting for a job, traineeship, internship or graduation project. By collaborating with us, you will increase the visibility of your company to these students.

We are very interested in companies that would like to collaborate with us. In the preliminary program the participating students attend a series of company lectures and take part in case studies during several afternoons. During these case studies students work together to tackle a problem or task given by a company. This gives them both more insight in future employment as physicists, and gives you as a company exposure among talented physics students.

In addition to study cases and lectures, there are limitless options for collaboration and we would be happy to explore these possibilities with interested companies. If you are interested, you can email studytour@vvtp.tudelft.nl. We will reply shortly and discuss the options of collaboration together.
